Cavan-based telecommunications services group Obelisk is to treble employee numbers with the recruitment of 100 new staff over the next 12 months.

The group has begun recruiting project managers, engineers, town planners, technical designers, radio planners and facility managers as well as back office staff.

Minister for Communications, Noel Dempsey, said: "This is great news from an indigenous, successful services group. Over the past 10 years Obelisk has developed vast experience in building and maintaining networks and enjoys a first-class record in delivering quality services in the telecommunications sector."

Obelisk provides services to most of the major wireless and fixed-line telecommunications operators in Ireland.
