Ireland set for snooker semis

The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are through to the last four of snooker's Coalite Nations Cup in Reading.

The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are through to the last four of snooker's Coalite Nations Cup in Reading.

The Republic pipped China 4-3, while Northern Ireland trounced defending champions England 4-2.

Michael Judge once more kept his cool to secure an Irish win, clinching the final frame just as he did against England on Monday.

England's John Parrott meanwhile conceded 67 points in one frame from fouls alone against Terry Murphy.

The Question of Sport team captain was furious with himself, saying: "I left that one behind me. Conceding 67 points on fouls in one frame? That's just ludicrous!"
