The National Emergency Response team has spent the day rehearsing their response to a potential nuclear fall-out to prepare themselves if the event should ever happen.

The team followed the strategies that have already been put in place by the National Emergency Plan for nuclear accidents.

The staged disaster involved everyone from the Minister for Nuclear Safety, Joe Jacobs, to staff at MET Eireann.

The mock response was carried out to fine tune how the plan would be carried out before it is officially published and sent to every house in the country.

Minister Jacobs says that the run-through went well and proved that we are well prepared for the worst.
