Teenager killed in police car accident

The Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland was called in to launch an investigation today into the death of a teenager in an incident involving a police car.

The Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland was called in to launch an investigation today into the death of a teenager in an incident involving a police car.

The 18-year-old was in collision with the police vehicle in the road accident in north Belfast’s Antrim Road during the night.

He suffered critical injuries and died some hours later in hospital

Police said they believed the accident happened when the youth ran onto the road close to the Waterworks Park.

The Ombudsman has been called in as a matter of routine, said police.
