Ireland's new cardinal, Desmond Connell, is back at St Peter's Square in Rome this afternoon.
Following his elevation to cardinal by Pope John Paul II yesterday, Dr Connell will return to receive his ring of office.
Each of the 44 new cardinals will be gifted with the ring, a symbol of their fidelity to the Pope, which bears the Papal coat of arms.
Cardinal Connell said it was a "joyous and marvellous occasion", while Taoiseach Bertie Ahern called it a "proud day for Irish people who share the same faith".
