Sporting denied draw at the death

CS Maritimo 3 Sporting Fingal 2

A 95th minute winner deprived Sporting Fingal of a deserved draw in Madeira tonight.

Glen Crowe headed Sporting ahead on 33 minutes. The former Bohs striker latched onto Ronan Finn’s superb cross to put his side in front.

But Maritimo, with eight Brazilians in their side, stormed back, dominating the second-half and deservedly levelled through Filipe Ricardo Esteves on 78 minutes.

Abdelmalek Cherrad put the home side ahead on 85 minutes.

But a error at the other end two minutes later gifted the ball to Lorcan Fitzgerald who fired home to bring Sporting level.

However, in cruel twist, Dias crossed from the right and Tcho swept the ball home at the back post to give Maritimo the advantage ahead of next Thursday's second leg of this Europa League second round tie.
