Police in the North have arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with a paramilitary-style attack that has caused a Belfast teenager to lose his leg.

The 18-year-old had to have his leg amputated after being shot during the attack in the republican Falls Road area on Saturday morning.

Two men attacked the teenager in Ard na Va before one of them took out a gun and shot him in the leg.

Relatives of the victim recently told a Belfast newspaper that he had tried to take his own life last week after being beaten with hammers in a previous assault.
