Union leaders are to meet executives from Goodyear for talks about a threat to hundreds of jobs in the UK.

The Transport and General Workers' Union fears that the company's truck tyre plant at Wolverhampton is to close with the loss of more than 450 jobs.

T&G officials will meet the company's vice-president next month for "vitally important" talks over the future of the factory.

Peter Booth, the union's national officer, says: "While no redundancy announcement has been made, we remain extremely concerned about the situation."
