Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane went for surgery on his Achilles in London this morning and his wife Claudine streamed photos of him on Twitter.

She posted the photos as Robbie waited for his procedure at the London hospital.

The LA Galaxy star let people know last night on his Facebook page that he was having the op, saying: "Getting an operation on both Achilles tomorrow.

"Looking forward to getting them sorted once and for all and coming back even stronger!"

He was left out of last week's draw against Poland because of the injury.

Later, Robbie posted photos of the surgery on his Facebook page. (WARNING: Some may find the photos upsetting)

And then photos appeared on Twitter and Facebook of Robbie, with his feet in casts.
