Dairymaster’s MooMonitor+ health and fertility monitoring system was one of the Grand Prix TechAgro 2018 winners at the recent TechAgro fair in Brno in the Czech Republic, the biggest event of its kind in Central Europe.
TechAgro recognises the latest agri-technology innovations with its Grand Prix competition, and 91 exhibitors applied for the awards in 2018.
An 18-member jury selected 17 of these for awards.
Dairymaster were in good company, sharing top awards with the likes of John Deere, Case IH, Claas, Valtra, Siloking, and Lemken.
The Co Kerry company’s MooMonitor+ is a collar worn around a cow’s neck which identifies cows in heat, and cows with health concerns.
The MooMonitor+ App provides an overview of the whole herd and of individual cows.
Among the other interesting Grand Prix TechAgro 2018 winners was APV’s PS 300 M1 seed hopper for sowing two different seed types from the same device, via separately controlled seeding shafts.
It is suitable for inter-crop cultivation, or fertiliser and pesticide application in one operation.
It can be used with cultivation implement, grassland harrows, rollers, hoes or weeders.
John Deere’s TechAgro gold silver medal winner, the S700 Series combine harvester, has Integrated Combine Adjustment 2 (ICA2), the first system on the market for completely automatic optimisation of the combine.
The judging panel commended it as a big step forward in harvesting efficiency and intelligence. Launched last summer, ICA2 can improve utilisation of the combine’s capacity by an average of 20%, according to a study by the University of Göttingen in Germany.
It optimises machine settings such as forward speed, grain quality and losses and cleanliness of the sample, and changes the settings automatically to maintain pre-selected output at a constant level.
Other Grand Prix TechAgro 2018 winners included the Case IH Quadtrac 540 CVX tractor, the Claas Cemos Auto Threshing, the Valtra T254V SmartTouch, the Siloking TruckLine, and the Lemken Azurit seed drill.
