Wall Street down on terrorism fears

US stocks fell after investor's terrorism fears were fuelled by further bombings in Turkey and also a wire report saying the White house had been evacuated.

US stocks fell after investor's terrorism fears were fuelled by further bombings in Turkey and also a wire report saying the White house had been evacuated.

Shortly after opening the Dow Jones was down 38.52 to 9651.94, the Nasdaq fell 11.34 to 1888.31 and the S&P 100 slid 2.19 to 1040.25.

Dow listed Hewlett-Packard reported quarterly earnings of $0.36 cents per share and raised its sales forecast for the current quarter.

In Dublin the ISEQ was 43 points lower, or .94%, at 4,614.

In London the FTSE100 was down 35.7 points, or 0.8%, at 4,291.7 as investors were unnerved by the latest terror attacks that devastated the British consulate and HSBC's headquarters in Turkey.

HSBC share price was down 1.55%.

On the currency markets the euro was worth $1.1933 and £0.6997.
