2003 saw the lowest number of industrial disputes taking place since records began in 1923, according to the Labour Relations Commission Annual Report for 2003, released today.
Only 24 disputes were recorded for the whole year, with none at all in the third quarter of the year, and only one minor dispute in the final quarter.
In total, the commission dealt with more than 6,000 requests from disputing parties, settling over 82% of cases referred to conciliation, and handling over 4,700 referrals to its Rights Commissioner service.
