Police were today investigating reports of shots being fired during bonfire celebrations in the North.
It has been claimed that two men drove into the loyalist Clara Street in east Belfast at around 12.30am today and fired a number of shots into the air.
According to reports, a dark-coloured Audi pulled up and the passenger tried to fire a handgun at a group of people.
After the weapon jammed, the driver then fired a number of rounds into the air before driving off.
Frankie Gallagher, of the Ulster Political Research Group (UPRG), which has links to the UDA, denied claims that the incident was a falling out between loyalist paramilitaries.
“We have made inquiries and this definitely was not a dispute within loyalism. We are having a peaceful marching season and let’s keep it that way,” he added.
Meanwhile, warning shots were fired by police after trouble broke out between two groups in Kilrea, Co Derry.
Around 60 people were involved in the incident which broke out at around 2am today. Several people were treated in hospital for head injuries during the disturbances.
And police came under attack from missiles in Limavady, Co Derry, just after 2.15am.
The incident took place as officers were clearing bonfire debris in the Edenmore Road area of the town.
There were further outbreaks of stoning at 2.30am and 3.30am and one man was arrested.
