The Chair of the Banking Inquiry has strenuously denied that its on the verge of collapse.
Newspaper reports suggest that members are deeply divided over whether or not to allow former Anglo Irish Bank Chief Executive David Drumm give evidence via video link.
Drumm is currently in the US, and is wanted here by the gardaí for questioning.
The committee are currently seeking legal advice on whether giving evidence by video link is admissible.
However, banking Inquiry Chair Ciaran Lynch is downplaying reports of unrest within the committee.
"This time last year, when we were preparing for the inquiry, I was hearing reports that because of matters related to Cabinet confidentiality, this inquiry would never take off," he said.
"We've gone through almost 70-plus witness to date, we've one hundred witnesses to gather … we've shown to date that the inquiry has gone through those hearings very, very, successfully."
