A trip to Doncaster is on the cards for Luca Cumani’s Seta following her hugely impressive debut victory at Newmarket last week.
The daughter of Pivotal was sent off a well-backed favourite on her racecourse introduction, and landed plenty of hefty bets as she drew eight lengths clear of her nearest rival.
Seta is as short as 8-1 for next year’s 1000 Guineas following that runaway success and is now likely to step up in trip for the May Hill Stakes in September.
The trainer’s daughter, Francesca Cumani, told www.lucacumani.com: “It wasn’t a surprise that she won but we weren’t expecting her to win by eight lengths and that she was able to do so might indicate that those fillies that she beat weren’t up to much.
“To put the distance she did between herself and her opponents in such a short time after a modest early gallop is still some feat, but even so we intend stepping her up in trip to a mile in the May Hill Stakes next time and bypass the Prestige at Goodwood.
“The trip isn’t really the issue, more that being such a tall filly, the configuration of the flat, galloping track at Doncaster will suit Seta much better than the twist and turns of Goodwood, where inexperience could easily catch her out.
“She’s an exciting prospect.”
