Pakistani police are currently questioning a man who claimed he murdered US reporter Daniel Pearl.

The man, identified only as Adnan, turned himself in at a newspaper office in the eastern city of Lahore this morning and the newspaper handed him over to police.

The man apparently claimed he had killed Mr Pearl, who worked for the Wall Street Journal, with an axe on a boat off the coast of Karachi, where the reporter was abducted on January 23rd.

A video delivered to US officials last month confirmed that Mr Pearl is dead, but his body has not been found.

Four suspects have already been arrested, including British-born Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, but more remain at large.
