Israeli troops re-enter Bethlehem

Israeli troops have entered the Palestinian city of Bethlehem for the second time in two days.

Israeli troops have entered the Palestinian city of Bethlehem for the second time in two days.

The army and Palestinian witnesses say they imposed a curfew on the city and the surrounding area.

Dozens of armoured personnel carriers took up positions in the city centre and around the Deheishe refugee camp.

There are no immediate reports of armed clashes. The army says the operation is aimed against militants planning attacks in Israel.

Troops also remain inside the town of Tulkarem and are surrounding another West Bank city, Qalqilya.
