Staff at Mercy Hospital in Cork are meeting today to discuss the possibility of taking strike action in an ongoing row over pay.

Staff at Mercy Hospital in Cork are meeting today to discuss the possibility of taking strike action in an ongoing row over pay.

The dispute centres on retrospective cuts to premium payments and certain allowances.

The Irish Nurses Organisation claims the cuts are unacceptable and in breach of employment laws.

It says nurses cannot afford a further drop in income on top of the public sector pension levy and the tax hikes introduced in the emergency budget.
