A detailed picture of the lives of Ireland’s children is to be revealed today in a major report aimed at shaping Government policy.
Almost 50 different aspects of the lives of Irish children are to be outlined from 22 different data sources, including information from the Central Statistics Office, and surveys of young people across the country.
The State of the Nation’s Children Report is the first of its kind compiled by the office of the Minister for Children and its authors say it provides an insight into the well-being of Irish children and young people.
Although much of the data is previously published, this is the first time that the information has been compiled into a single document.
The Government says the State of the Nation’s Children Report will be valuable to policy makers, service providers, researchers, academics, students and other audiences.
The report was compiled by the Office of the Minister for Children in association with the Central Statistics Office, the Health Promotion Unit at National University of Ireland, Galway and the statistics division of the Department of Health and Children.
