Rovers got their Cup Final disappointment out of their system with this rousing win to dent Shels' title hopes.

Stephen Geoghegan missed several gilt-edged chances for Shels as Rovers bided their time to snatch their winner.

Geoghegan was out-foxed by Rovers keeper Tony O'Dowd when through one-on-one with on 40 minutes.

The Shels man then headed over an open goal minutes into the second half from a Wes Houlihan cross.

Shels were left to rue those misses when Rovers scored the only goal on 59 minutes; Shane Robinson finishing off from a Greg Costello free kick.
