Shane Williams has insisted Wales will not make the same mistakes as Scotland when they take on Italy in the Six Nations Championship in Rome on Saturday.
Attacking errors by the Scots at Murrayfield last month handed Italy a 21-0 lead after only seven minutes and they duly went on to seal their first away victory in the championship.
Though the Wales wing says he will be looking to get the ball in hand, he does not want to see his side give away points unnecessarily through a reckless approach.
“We are not going to go in to the game chucking wide passes and getting it to the wingers straight away because we know what happened there with Scotland,” warned Williams.
“You have got to work the game to suit you but also be mindful of who you are playing against. I don’t think we should be like Scotland playing sevens rugby chucking it about everywhere.
“I want to get into the game early but I certainly won’t be calling for long missed passes. Otherwise, we might be down 21-0 before you know it.”
