Secondary teachers seek improved pay for exam work

Delegates at the ASTI’s annual conference in Co Donegal have called for secondary school teachers to be paid €34 per hour for Leaving and Junior Cert exam work.

Delegates at the ASTI’s annual conference in Co Donegal have called for secondary school teachers to be paid €34 per hour for Leaving and Junior Cert exam work.

The teachers want this level of pay for supervising, monitoring, correcting and oral examinations.

Delegates at the conference in Bundoran have also demanded that only qualified teachers be appointed as examiners.

Meanwhile, the ASTI has endorsed its former president, Bernadine O’Sullivan, to run for the Seanad.
