Medical advisor offers to resign over death of premature baby

Finbar Lennon, medical advisor to the North Eastern Health Board has offered his resignation over the baby Bronagh Livingston tragedy.

Finbar Lennon, medical advisor to the North Eastern Health Board has offered his resignation over the baby Bronagh Livingston tragedy.

But the board's Chief Executive, Paul Robinson, has not accepted Mr Lennon's resignation. The announcement came yesterday, as conflicting reports into the baby's death were analysed.

An independent report found Denise Livingstone should have been admitted to Monaghan General Hospital.

The report contrasts with an internal investigation by the North Eastern Health Board, which found the correct decision was made. Labour's health spokeswoman, Liz McManus says the Minster for Health cannot shirk his responsibility to Monaghan general hospital.
