Police called as 'X-Factor' qualifiers let off steam
Police were called to a London hotel today after 'X-Factor' contestants who were staying there got out of hand.
Staff at the Premier Inn called for assistance after a group of talent show hopefuls became rowdy and property was damaged.
Contestants, who had made it through to the boot camp stage of the show, were letting off steam after rehearsals when the party got out of hand.
It was the last night before they found out who had made it through to the next stage of the contest where they head to judges' houses for further mentoring.
Television bosses have offered to cover the costs of fixing the damage to the hotel in Wembley, north west London, which is close to the studios where the live finals of the talent show are held.
A spokeswoman for 'The X-Factor' said: "Contestants had an opportunity to relax after a week of intense rehearsal and performance.
"We have spoken to the individuals concerned, who have apologised for their behaviour."
A Scotland Yard spokesman said police were called to a minor disturbance at the hotel at 1.30am on Friday.
Staff said they were concerned they could not control a group of rowdy guests.
He said officers were satisfied they were not needed and left around 15 minutes later.
A spokeswoman for Premier Inn said a few of the talent show hopefuls had got "carried away" but they returned to their rooms when staff asked them to quieten down.
"A few X-Factor contestants got carried away and were over excited," she said.
"At Premier Inn, we want to ensure that all our guests have the best possible experience so we politely asked the contestants to return to their rooms and keep the noise down.
"The police were called as a precautionary measure but all of the contestants had returned to their rooms by the time the police arrived."
