11 arrested over theft of copper from power plant

Gardaí in Co Galway have arrested 11 Dublin men in connection with the theft of €10,000 worth of copper wire from a power station near Loughrea this morning.

Gardaí in Co Galway have arrested 11 Dublin men in connection with the theft of €10,000 worth of copper wire from a power station near Loughrea this morning.

Six of the men, who are all in their 20s, were arrested after gardaí intercepted three cars used in the robbery of the material from the Tynagh plant at around 3am.

The other five were arrested during follow-up searches in the locality.

All of the stolen copper was recovered.
