Sandra Bullock found it difficult getting into character in 'The Blind Side', she has revealed.
Despite winning the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of interior decorator Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie - which is based on a true story - the 45-year-old star admits it took her time to get into the role.
She said: "I mean, I loved the story but I didn't know how to play her - and it was a while before I got there.
"The director said, after about eight months: 'Why don't you go and see Leigh Anne and see what I'm talking about? It'll explain her.'
"I met her and was really blown away by the energy she had. I stopped thinking about it like an actor just seeing a part, and the story is what finally got me."
Bullock also admits the Tuohy family's background is very different from her life and she wasn't sure if they would get along.
She told The Guardian newspaper: "I go: 'Hmmm. white, Southern, Christian, Republican. Not the kind of people I feel comfortable around, because they're usually not appreciative of me, or the lifestyle I supposedly lead.' So I automatically assume that they'll reject me because of all that. But this family was the exact opposite."
'The Blind Side' - which is released in cinemas in the UK on March 26 - follows the life of Michael Oher who is taken out of his impoverished life and given a home by Tuohy and her husband as a teenager before going on to play professional American football.
