Schools are reportedly set to be targeted in a new campaign aimed at improving children's diets and tackling "food poverty".
Reports this morning say a new guide being drawn up by leading anti-poverty groups warns that tens of thousands of children are going to school without breakfast or with only junk food for their lunch.
The guide highlights high consumption of sweets and fizzy drinks and low intake of fruit, vegetables and essential vitamins and minerals.
It recommends that schools establish programmes like breakfast clubs and school lunch schemes in an effort to improve the situation.
