Sinead O'Connor is planning to release an album of traditional Irish songs given a modern slant.
Sean Nos Nua is scheduled for release in October.
It was recorded at a studio in County Wicklow with Irish musicians, and will have overdubs added by a group of Jamaican musicians.
The songs on the album, her first since 2000's Faith And Courage, have usually been recorded in old style - or Sean Nos in Gaelic - by other artists.
Sinead told Rolling Stone magazine: "The way we have recorded them is to 'sexy' them up with rhythms and sounds so that they can become part of what is new style.
"Hence the record is called Sean Nos Nua - old style but new."
Tracks featured on the album include Oro Se do Bheatha Bhaile, an Irish language song celebrating 16th century pirate Grace O'Malley, the Dublin street ballad Molly Malone, Paddy's Lament and Peggy Gordon.
The album is being produced by Adrian Sherwood, Donal Lunny and O'Connor herself.
She added, "Myself, Adrian Sherwood and Donal Lunny are hoping to make Irish traditional music appealing to singers, bands and songwriters who are bored with the state of Irish music as it is now."
