Newcastle have called an inspection for 7.30am tomorrow ahead of Tuesday’s meeting at the track.

The course is currently unraceable with waterlogged patches after some heavy snow in the area in recent weeks.

Clerk of the course James Armstrong explained: “After the last thaw we got about another six inches of snow and although that has all gone now, there is water sitting in any holes on the track.

“The course has improved over the weekend but still not enough for us to be raceable at present and we really are in the lap of the gods.

“We will have to see how it goes before tomorrow morning. It is three degrees and overcast at present but I would be optimistic.”
