Construction workers on projects for next year’s football world cup and employers are preparing to sign a wage deal ending a week-long strike.

Construction workers on projects for next year’s football world cup and employers are preparing to sign a wage deal ending a week-long strike.

Work at sites across South Africa is set to resume tomorrow.

Unions and employers say they concluded negotiations in the early hours of today and an agreement will be signed this morning.

Details of the wage agreement have not been revealed but it is believed employers and workers have settled on a 12% pay rise. Workers were initially demanding 13%.

The strike began last Wednesday and threatened to derail already tight schedules for construction projects across South Africa that are due to be completed by December.
