Govt approves €2m funding for Pakistani refugees

The Government has approved €2m in emergency funding to support people displaced by the conflict currently raging in north-western Pakistan.

The Government has approved €2m in emergency funding to support people displaced by the conflict currently raging in north-western Pakistan.

Up to two million people have fled their homes in recent months as the Pakistani army mounts a renewed offensive against local Taliban fighters in the North-West Frontier Province.

The Government's funding is being channelled through the UN, Trócaire and Concern and will be used to provide food, plastic sheeting, water and sanitation.
