A garda accused of the attempted robbery of a Cork shop has been re-arrested after failing to appear for his court case this morning.

A garda accused of the attempted robbery of a Cork shop has been re-arrested after failing to appear for his court case this morning.

The 38-year-old from Carrigaline is charged with attempting to rob Kilmoney Stores in the town last Saturday.

The man was due in court this morning but failed to appear when his name was called. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.

Gardaí arrested him in Crosshaven shortly afterwards.

He has been remanded on bail until Wednesday on the condition that he immediately presents himself to a rehabilitation facility for a 12-week programme.
