Talks between union officals and management at Covidien in Tullamore get underway later today.

Talks between union officals and management at Covidien in Tullamore get underway later today.

The medical devices firm announced yesterday that it is to seek 199 voluntary redundancies by September.

The company says the job cuts are necessary to secure the future of the plant.

Covidien also has facilities in Dublin, Athlone and Galway.
