Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan is banking on striker Robbie Fowler having a cutting edge when the season opens.
City’s first competitive game is only two weeks away when they face against Welsh side TNS in the UEFA Cup on August 14.
Fowler has played a part in every pre-season match as he builds up his fitness but Keegan also needs him to get close to being the player he was before he left Liverpool.
The manager told www.mcfc.co.uk: “Robbie needs a goal now. I think he is getting closer to full fitness. We will keep working.
“The important thing is that all the players are fit and ready to go when the season starts and I think they will be.”
