St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin has become the latest Irish hospital to admit providing the glands of dead children to pharmaceutical companies without the consent of the children’s parents.
St Vincent’s is the 21st Irish hospital to admit involvement in the practice in the past 10 days.
The hospitals have admitted removing the pituitary glands of dead children and giving them to two multinational pharmaceutical firms for research purposes.
St Vincent’s said it had disclosed all the relevant information to the Dunne Inquiry, which is investigating the organ retention scandal.
