McDonald: Adams arrest did not ‘disrupt’ election performance

Sinn Féin deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald has said the arrest of Gerry Adams in the course of the election campaign did not have the disruptive effect some people hoped it might.

The party president was arrested and held for a number of days by the PSNI in connection with the investigation into the abduction and murder of Jean McConville.

He insists he had no involvement in the crime.
