Cork Gardaí hunt for fifth man as four held in connection with attempted robbery

Four men are being questioned after an armed robbery was foiled at the home of a businessman.

Detectives are believed to be searching for a fifth man in connection with the aggravated burglary in the Glounthaune area of east Cork.

Two men were arrested near the scene late last night with another two detained in the early hours of the morning following an extensive air and ground search.

No one was injured in the incident, and it is unclear whether there were family members at the house at the time of the attempted robbery.

A Garda spokesman said all four are in their 30s and are being held at Midleton and Cobh Garda stations.

They can be detained for up to seven days under anti-gangland legislation, Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
