Latvian man drowns after being swept off rocks in Co Clare

A Latvian man has died off the coast at Doonbeg in Co Clare this afternoon.

A Latvian man has died off the coast at Doonbeg in Co Clare this afternoon.

The 27-year-old, who lived in Athlone, was fishing with his wife and eight-year-old child when he was swept off the rocks by a wave.

He is the second fisherman to go missing off the Co Clare coast in the past seven days, with a search ongoing for a 35-year-old Polish man near Kilkee.

His body was recovered by rescue workers who were diverted from the search in Kilkee.
