Inquests into fishing tragedies to take place in Wexford

The inquests into the deaths of seven fishermen who died in two tragedies off the south-east coast is taking place in New Ross, Co Wexford, today.

The inquests into the deaths of seven fishermen who died in two tragedies off the south-east coast is taking place in New Ross, Co Wexford, today.

Five of the men died when the Pere Charles sank near Hook Head in January, while the other two died when the Maggie B went down in the same area in March 2006.

Tom and Pat Hennessy, Pat Coady, Billy O'Connor and Andriy Dyrin all died in the Pere Charles tragedy, while the victims of the Maggie B sinking were Glynn Cott and Jan Sankowski.

Last month, the two vessels were raised from the seabed and taken to Arklow for a full examination by the Marine Casualty Investigation Board.

No bodies were recovered from either wreck.
