Beckham reveals new close shave

Trend-setting England captain David Beckham caused gasps of amazement when he made a surprise appearance alongside his wife Victoria, sporting a new haircut.

Trend-setting England captain David Beckham caused gasps of amazement when he made a surprise appearance alongside his wife Victoria, sporting a new haircut.

His new style has prompted a psychologist to suggest the Real Madrid star is fed up and unconsciously wants a fresh start, following the recent allegations about his private life.

It was a close shave for the Real Madrid star as he showed off his new skinhead style at a private party at London’s Royal Albert Hall last night.

He was not expected to join his wife at the event, and no-one was expecting the midfielder to have had another image change, which will no doubt have hairdressers waiting in anticipation tomorrow, as young fans come in for a copycat cut.

Professor Cary Cooper said: “I think he’s saying, ‘I want a clean break from what’s just happened’.

“Whether the claims are true or not true – and we still do not know – he has had a stressful and unpleasant time.

“I think it’s totally unconscious, but he’s saying, ‘I’m fed up, I need a change, I’m going to do it in my hairstyle’.”

Over the years, Beckham has been known to keep people guessing when he has been considering a new haircut.

Such is the public fascination, he has been known to wear a woolly hat to keep a new haircut firmly under wraps.

At other times he has had a mohawk cut, blond spikes (at the 2002 World Cup in Japan), African-style braids (when he met Nelson Mandela) and most recently a ponytail.
