Gardaí have today arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the attack on a Polish national on Benbullben Road, Drimnagh last Saturday evening.
He is being held at Sundrive Road garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, and can be held for up to six hours.
This can be extended for a further six hours if needed, before being charged or released.
One of the victims, one Polish man in his 20s, remains in a critical condition in hospital today after receiving stab wounds to the head following an altercation at 6.50pm on Saturday. Another Polish man remains in hospital with stab wounds arising from the same incident.
"This is a terrible crime which has been committed not just against new members of our community but against the community itself," said Superintendent Bart Faulkner.
"The good people of Drimnagh are appalled at what has happened in their neighbourhood. We are asking people to come forward with information and to work with us in achieving justice for these young men and their families."
Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to contact them, and are also actively seeking information to help identify the assailant.
Anyone who witnessed the attack is asked to contact Sundrive Road garda station on 01 6666675, or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
