Ken Doherty is facing an uphill struggle to reach the second round of the World Snooker Championship against Barry Pinches today.

Pinches, wearing a green and yellow striped waistcoat in the colours of his favourite football team Norwich City, leads 5-2 with two frames of the session remaining.

Pinches beat Jimmy White last year and only lost in a decider to Stephen Hendry. Doherty has struggled for form all season despite a semi-final placing in the recent China Open.
