The IMPACT trade union has announced details of a campaign of industrial action by health workers in protest at the HSE's recruitment freeze.

Thousands of healthcare workers will block overtime and out-of-hours work indefinitely from tomorrow as part of the action.

Lunchtime protests will also be held around the country next month and staff will refuse to cover posts left vacant because of the jobs embargo.

The protests are going ahead despite reports this morning that the HSE is preparing to relax the recruitment freeze in facilities that are operating within budget.
