Connections of Termagant will wait at least a week before deciding whether to run the Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine again this season.
The Powerscourt filly burst onto the Classic scene with an emphatic victory in the Curragh Group One over seven furlongs on Sunday.
In doing so, Termagant gained an automatic entry for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf but trainer Kevin Prendergast has ruled out a trip to America.
She was given quotes ranging from 12-1 to 20-1 for the stanjames.com 1000 Guineas at Newmarket but her main objective is more likely to be the Irish equivalent back at the Curragh next spring.
“I haven’t discussed plans yet with the owner but we had a quick chat yesterday and we were both in agreement to wait a week and then decide,” said Prendergast.
“We could finish her off the year unless she comes back really fresh in the next 10 days.
“It’s going to cost €100,000 (€113,000) to run her in the Breeders’ Cup and then there’s the travel.
“She’s got a big future in front of her and she’s had two nice races now. My gut feeling would be to train her for the Irish 1000 Guineas and then after that she can go where she likes.
“She’s a grand filly with a nice temperament. We are going to look after her as it’s not as though we have dozens like her.”
