Galway based Magma Films has won Gold in the Children’s Animation category at the World Media Festival held in Hamburg.
They took the top award in the children’s animation category with "The Fairytaler" : The Modern Classics of Hans Christian Andersen.
The 26 half-hour series covers old favourites, such as The Emperor’s New Clothes, Thumbelina or The Little Mermaid, as well as rediscovering some less well known fairytales from the master storyteller who’s 200th birthday will be celebrated worldwide in 2005.
The series has already sold to America, Ireland, Denmark, France, Germany and Sweden
Magma Films has been in Galway for the last 9 years and produces international animation with co-producers from the UK, Europe and America.
Magma also produces animation feature length movies, live action drama, live action features and light entertainment programmes.
The Fairytaler is an international co production between Magma Films in Ireland, A Film, Egmont Imagination, Danmarks Radio (Denmark) and Super RTL. (Germany).
