European Commission president Romano Prodi said he expects EU leaders to take decisions aimed at relaunching growth in Europe during their two-day summit opening in Brussels tomorrow.
Prodi called on leaders to put aside both nationalistic and selfish interests aside when creating a single growth initiative from the rival proposals advanced to date.
The plans involve extra public and private spending on infrastructure and research and development.
Prodi said that not enough had happened in these areas, citing missing road links and rail links that have not yet begun
