The Minister for Justice has denied publicly opposing incineration in the Government's new Infrastructure Bill.

Michael McDowell has been accused of making the remarks in relation to a proposed facility in Ringsend in Dublin at a local residents' committee meeting.

A spokesman for the Minister's Progressive Democrats says there is no such proposal contained in the draft legislation.

But fellow constituency TD John Gormley of the Green Party, who was at last night's meeting on the subject said Mr McDowell was speaking as a member of the Cabinet - and that he had no doubt about what he heard.
