Garda detectives are hunting a lone gunman who shot two people in Sligo town overnight.

Garda detectives are hunting a lone gunman who shot two people in Sligo town overnight.

It is understood that shots were fired at a van, which was travelling in the Cranmore area at around 11.45pm wounding the two occupants.

One of the victims is described as being in a serious but stable condition at Sligo General Hospital.

The other man is also receiving treatment for his injuries.
