An independent audit has found no evidence that public funds were misused at the Marino teacher training college in Dublin.

The audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers was commissioned earlier this year amid allegations that the institution was misusing the €4.5m it receives every year from the State.

Education Minister Mary Hanafin said today that it had found no evidence to support the claims.

However, she said the auditors did propose measures to address shortfalls in the college's financial management systems.
