Tom Scudamore is set to ride leading Grand National fancy Smarty for Mark Pitman, in this year's renewal.
The 19-year-old has reached an agreement with owner Tracy Brown to ride her six horses whenever he is available this campaign.
Last season, Scudamore was unseated at the sixth fence in the big Aintree race on Northern Starlight, who he was riding for boss Martin Pipe, while Smarty finished a brave second to Red Marauder under Timmy Murphy.
Scudamore is hoping for another bold show from the nine-year-old this time round and is looking forward to taking the ride.
He said: "Hopefully I will be riding him but obviously April is a long way off although that is the plan at the moment.
"It's not every day you get asked to ride one of the favourites in the National and it's a great opportunity for me.
"Everyone is looking for a break and I have been very, very fortunate that Mr Pipe has let me ride some good horses and that's probably where this has come from."
